Mind isnt working

My question is do I do the first set in the brackets then the last set of parentheses. If I the brackets till the last and do those nine I don’t have 197 stitches. I have frogged this section down 5 times

What pattern is this from? Is it linkable? That would be ideal. I think it would help someone who can look at patterns and figure things out better than I to know how many stitches you have before starting the border.

So frustrating when the stitch count doesn’t work out.

OK the pattern row is:
slip 1, p,k,p = 4sts

[(p, p some sts tog) x8 = 16
p = 1] x10
The sts in brackets = 17 and that’s repeated 10 times for 170sts

(p, p some sts tog) x9 = 18
p =1

The row ends with pkpk =4

Adding that up gives you 4 + 170 + 18 + 1 + 4 = 197sts

It may help to put in markers especially in the area of the repeats before you re-knit the row. That way you’ll be sure that you have the correct number of sts in each repeat. You’ll also be able to see that each repeat has the yarn overs or slip sts in the correct place for the row. Check too that you have the correct number of sts before starting the row.

The pattern is from perseverance it is the border between section 3&4. And I will have 207 sts when I get done with section 3

See if the sections agree with the breakdown above. Can you tell us the name of the pattern and designer? There are several patterns called perseverance. (Sounds like a quality that you need with this pattern!)

Expression Fiber Arts Perseverance. It’s is c2c blanket

This one? I have many Expression Fiber Arts Patterns but not this one.

Yes that one. So far it has been a great pattern I am just going to knit along and see how it goes

How far off the 197 stitch count are you or how many sts do you end up with?
Work the sts within the first parentheses inside the brackets 8 times, then p1 to complete the bracket. That sequence is repeated 10 times.
Try counting these sts off with markers to the last 19sts then work the sts in parentheses and finally p1.
