I have a project on metal 10.5 circular needles. I know tsa says you can verbally bring knitting needles onboard, but I wondered if anyone has any specific experience with it?
Metal needles on flight?
There’s a group on Ravelry called Travelry that has pages of discussion on this. Yes, they are allowed, but it’s entirely at the discretion of the agent you get. People have had wooden ones confiscated, and even cables without tips (because you could choke someone with them?). I’m flying out in 10 days and have decided to take a crochet project instead of knitting. The knitting will go in my checked luggage.

Oh interesting! Hopefully I get someone nice. I’m planning on inserting a lifeline in case they do decide to take them.
