I have never used magic loop method (just watched how to video). I have a pattern for boot upper on slippers that says “using magic loop method, work as follows arranging sts on needles so they are comfortable to work:”
Row 1: k9 toe sts, pick up and knit st from ridge (on sole of boot); 10 sts, turn.
Row 2: sl 1, p 9, pick up and p1 from ridge, turn.
How is this done using magic loop method??? Help!
do you have a link to the pattern for us? My googling came out confusing.
Magic Loop is just one method of knitting small diameter projects in the round … so if the pattern was designed to use Magic Loop then you are knitting your booties in the round.
The “turn” instruction at the end of each of the two rows you posted is what’s confusing me a little … you wouldn’t be turning your work if you’re working in the round (unless perhaps part of the pattern involves short rows or something?).
Do you have a link to the pattern? or a pattern name/picture? It might help us figure it out a little bit better.
The link to the pattern is cocoknits.com and the pattern is for fleeced boots. Thank you for responding.
The link is cocoknits.com and the pattern is for fleeced boots.
HERE is a link to the pattern page.
It’s not a free pattern, so I can’t view the full instructions … but if you follow the link above to the pattern page there are photos of the finished project along with the basic pattern requirements.
I’m not experienced enough to be able to tell what’s going on just by looking at the picture, but perhaps one of the more experienced knitters will be able to!
that was my reason for asking for the pattern link:
Magic loop works in the round. But turning does not (usually) go with working in the round, and patterns with short rows worked in the round are not really usual (but may happen, of course).
Since the pattern is not fully available, I can only tell that the Skill-Section says that knitting with magic loop is needed.
I do not know if it is needed for the project through-out, or if it just needed for a part somewhere.
But I found the pattern on Ravelry.com and there are 6 projects for it. Maybe you should ask one of those knitters, since they all own the pattern. Ravelry.com is a free site. Once you are signed in, you can follow this link:

One person there wrote this, so there is knitting in the round:
Had to go down to size 6 needle to get guage. I’m loving the pattern and instead of using magic loop am using 2 circular needles. Boot #1 30% done.
