Hi everyone! I am confused about some magic loop stuff. To my understanding, the working yarn should always be on the back needle. However, when I split my stitches and pull them onto the needles, my working yarn is on the front needle! My tail-end yarn is on the back needles. I’m so confused!! Please help!

Liat Gat’s video are so clear and direct. This is hers for Magic Loop. It’s worth watching from the beginning but at about 1:30min she flips the needles so that the working yarn is coming from the back needle.

I really like that video. I’ve always been nervous about using magic loop, bit this person makes it look so easy. I am going to try it on my next bunch of preemie hats instead of using dpn’s… Love learning new techniques…

I learned Magic Loop 2 years ago when I wanted to learn to knit ITR instead of lifetime of flat knitting. She’s my “go-to” for problems. I finally learned how to go back to fix mistakes when I’ve already gone to the other needle. That was a biggy. She has ones on how to do diff weight socks, mittens and different how-to’s with it

That video helped me so much with magic loop. I had to learn to love dpn and buy all the sizes or learn magic loop. I got so tired of looking for the dropped dpn and didn’t want to buy all the sizes anyhow. Dpn come in handy for fixing mistakes but not so much for knitting itr for me.
Once you get comfy with magic loop you might decide to try knitting two hats at the same time. That’s how I do socks, two at a time on magic loop.
Thank you for recommending that video! I’m not stuck anymore thanks to watching that video!! Thank you so much. I restarted a few times, but now I’ve got the hang of it and hopefully it will be smooth(ish) sailing from here on out! Here’s my progress (I’m knitting a sock, and this is the cuff):

Sometimes I have to search around to find ones of hers that are free not part of her course but I’ve managed to find different ones and if you need help I can look for links I may have saved. I love so much that I only have to use the magic loop, even starting from t he smallest shape or ending like with a cuff, I’ve even done thumbs with them :)!
