I am looking for a simple pattern, no cables, etc, for Magic Loop Fingerless Mittens with a thumb. I’ve tried converting a two needle pattern over to ML but seem to have a problem with drawing the thumb together correctly. It is always too tight. I LOVE ML and am hoping someone out there can help me! Thanks!
The joining of the thumb shouldn’t make any difference, but here’s one I found.
I liked this mitten tutorial. Very informative. You knit this project along with Kelley. It uses what they call an afterthought thumb instead of a gore. This would be knit onto the back of the mitten. She has instructions for doing both, whatever you prefer. For fingerless gloves, you would knit up to the thumb. After that’s completed, you’ll knit in stockinette stitch for one inch, then do a rib stitch for 3/4 of an inch, either k2, p2 or k1, p1 and bind off. This 1 3/4 inch measurement is pretty standard for every size. It takes it up to about where the fingers meet the hand.
I hope this makes sense. It’s basically a mitten but you stop at the fingers. Any mitten pattern can be converted.
