I’m doing a “learn a new stitch” dish cloth KAL. The instructions are to make 1 by picking up the bar between the stitches. It doesn’t explain if I should pick it up from the front or the back, though. Any thoughts?

Looks like you have a L decrease, followed by some knitting/increases, and then a R decrease.
I would likely “pair”/alternate the increases to be M1R, K3, M1L.
