This is the increase that’s almost invisible,no hole as with a regular increase. I think I’ve gotten the M1 K,but can’t find instruction for the purl…I have a slight clue, but not much, I know from the little experience I’ve had (twice did the stitch) it’s not easy to maneuver, and kind of awkward…I don’t see it on the video instruction page, unless I’m missing it. thanks~
You would make it pretty much the same as the M1 knit, just purl the lifted strand instead, and make sure there’s a twist. There’s links for the videos just below the description of M1L on the Increases page.
Thanks SuzieQ, I did not see that video when I went searching…Q.~When you say ‘make sure you twist’ what does that mean, and where does it happen?
The P versions of the M1 are on the Increases page as
To work M1R on the Purl side:
To work M1L on the Purl side:
By twisted, the legs of the stitch need to be worked the opposite of how you’d normally do them. The right leg of the st is normally in the front of your ndl. If a K inc is worked in it as it sits, you’ll get a hole. But by working it thru the back loop (twisted) you won’t. Or, by switching the st so that the right leg is to the back of the ndl, you can then K thru the front and it is then a ‘twisted’ st. (Simple enough…right leg front/work TBL; right leg back, work thru front.) Check out the vids.

Yeah, what cam said - purl it through the back leg.
