For those of you that have seen The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe this weekend, I have a need to knit Lucy’s hat from the beginning of the movie when she is getting on the train leaving London. It is SO cute and I have a “Lucy-ish” daughter who would be just adorable in that hat! Actually I have 2 Lucy-ish daughters that would be adorable in that hat. It seemed to be a sort of seed stitch hat, not a beret and not a skull cap, somewhere in between. If anyone knows what I am talking about and has seen a hat similar to it, please LMK! I love all the hats from the 40’s. Yeah, I go to a movie and I look at the knitting. Oh and at one point towards the end Susan is wearing a very long knit shawl, but it was just sort of plain and grey.
I saw that movie last night and also noticed that hat! I will look around as well and if I find anything I will let you know. That really was a great hat!
Yeah. The movie wasn’t too bad either :roflhard:
Yeah, I saw the movie yesterday, too - the hat was totally adorable. I was also sitting there wondering how to knit it. Not that I have a daughter or any female child in my life that I need a gift for. Still, I couldn’t help but want to knit it!
Btw, I learned a lesson at that movie. Knitting at the movie theater is hard! I dropped a stitch and couldn’t see how to pick it up in the dark, so I finally had to put my knitting away. DH was just sitting there shaking his head. He couldn’t believe I had brought my knitting…
lol…it works better with bigger needles…i usually work just fine but there are times when i have to put it away too. like this last time i was doing k2tog on size 3 needles and it was just too much for me to try to do in a dark theatre so i put it away. and of course it depends on the movie too. movies that are darkly lit it is near to impossible to do.
buuuuuuuuuut i knit in the theatre on average 2x per week and i love it!
Ha ha, you got me wondering so I watched the trailer and there it is!
got Real Player?

Movies will never be the same for me.
I look at hats, sweaters, anything and just stare at it and want to knit one. Miss parts of movies that way.
well heck, i will probably need to see it bigger, but isn’t that just a beret?
Looks like a cross between a chef pouffe and a beanie to me…
I found this. The hat in the trailer doesn’t look knitted. But here’s the link:
$85! Wow! I really like that look though, it’s not as floppy as a beret and not as tight & rounded as a beanie. It’s sweet. Easy to figure out I think too.
If you go to Disney and click on the teaser trailer it shows the hat several times! Hope you can figure it out once you see it more. It IS cute!
the link with the hat you can buy kinda looks crocheted…I made a hat that looked like that accidentally once when making a beret with the wrong materials.
I thought of this thread when I saw this hat :
MagKnits Urban Necessity Hat and Gloves
It looks kind of like what you want, maybe? Thought it might help.
Those are close, but not it. $85?!?!?! Right, those better be some pampered sheep if their wool is going for that much. I can’t believe those prices. Even the Harry Potter replicas aren’t that bad. I bought my oldest a time turner that is an exact replica of Hermione’s for under $50. I’ll keep looking.
YOWCH!
Those prices are unreal!!
What brand of crack are THEY smoking?
Hey all, I know this is an old thread, but I thought I’d let you know that my favorite designer is putting out a pattern inspired by this hat. She just posted it on Ravelry for testing on her group today. Test thread here.
I’ll be testing it, unless she asks me to test something else.
Cya there.:waving:
eta: the author of the above test told me that there is Lucy hat listed on Ravelry that may be closer to what you are looking for. I searched for it on Ravelry but couldn’t find it.
I think this one might be close, esp if the bobbles were smaller:
This is from Interweave Knit Holiday issue 2008
I have that issue. I like Tabitha’s version because it’s not so pointy.
