Hi Ladys,
I got 2 pictures of her scarf. I thought they were better than what they came out as, but I guess you can see what I mean.
I will try to do it your way first.
Thanx,
Ellen

Wow, I think this really does look like the way I was talking about! :noway:
What do you think guys?Doesn’t that look like it’s one column of knit and then one column of purl somehow hidden under?and indeed it looks somewhat like stockinette on both sides!
If so, I just happened to have posted the way you knit it in the first page :cheering:
Yes, it looks very much like 1x1 ribbing. K1, p1.

Hi,
Sorry, I haven’t been online for a few days. I tried the k1, p1, k1 etc… The next row was p1, k1, p1 etc… The ribbing was too wide or to loose to look like my sister’s scarf. I didn’t get the “V”. So, I’m going to try to do 2 k1, 2 p1, 2 k1 etc…
I do hope I get this right…
Thanks for all your help…
I guess I missed it when you first posted your pic. Anyway, I agree with Sue. Looks like single rib. I’d try going down a needle size if it’s too loose. (2x2 rib is not going to look like the picture.)
Currently I am using #9 needles. I am also using Lion Brand Suede.
What size needles would you suggest?
I just tried to do this - it works when you:
row 1. K1, P1 across row 2 and all other rows - K first stitch, then -
if there is a P in the stitch below, P1, if there is a K in the stitch below,
K1 IN THE STITCH BELOW. So it’s P1, K1 in stitch below, P1…
I hope this helps!!!
Oh, Fisherman’s Rib! Here’s some other ways to do that - http://www.lanagrossa.com/service/stricktipps/stricktipp_patentmuster.html
It could be called fisherman’s rib. I tried it some more, and found I spoke too soon - this should work - cast on an EVEN number of stitches, SLIP the first stitch, * P1, K1 in stitch below * ending with P1. When you turn, slip the first stitch, P1, K1 in stitch below… I don’t know if you HAVE to slip the first stitch, I just found it worked better for me. I hope this was the stich you were looking for. Good Luck.
When I do it, I just knit the first stitch, and k2 to end the row - I knit every one, no purling. When you do every row this way, it’s the same on both sides.
