I am fairly new to knitting and would like to make a doggie sweater for my friend for Christmas.
Can anyone help me find a pattern that doesn’t use circulars and is easy to understand?
Thanks for your help

well i don’t know anything about dog patterns but i am curious…why no circulars?
Kelly K, Thanks!!
brendajos,
I don’t have circulars or know how to use them. So I thought I would stick with what I know.
that is what i thought! i promise you, after you try circs and get use to them, you will almost never want to go back! (There are a few exceptions…some people just really really love their straights!) i get irritated anymore when i have to do stockinette flat because i hate purling and if you knit in the round you don’t HAVE to purl most of the time.
find a cute hat pattern that is knit in the round sometime and get the circs that correspond and see what you think. i bet you will love it!
I will have to try someday!
Thanks
using CIRCULAR NEEDLES… and i SWEAR it was soooo not the drama i thought it was gonna be (in fact i finished in just an afternoon)… ok, so i found out how to make the moss or seed stich by accident just like all the books i read told me i would & it doesnt have that “ribbed for her pleasure” look i was going for… BUT I DID IT so GO FOR IT w/the circulars, its sooo not as intimidating as you think it is…
oh & there’s a pattern on michaels.com using lion brand that is ADORABLE & i’m SURE you could do the collar on straight needles & seam it underneath & don’t do the contrast color if it seems too confusing…
good luck!
:cheering:
I am working on a dog sweater from a pattern in the Leisure Arts leaflet, I Can’t Believe I’m Knitting. It only calls for circulars towards the end. However, I’ve been using circulars as flat thru out the instructions. I love the fact that the stitches seem more uniform than on straight needles. Since I have 2 dogs, I’m planning to a 2nd sweater completely in the round on my circulars. Wish I’d learned to use circulars sooner.

I thought circs were scary at first, but now I love them!! It’s really easy and if you want stockinette…no purling!
Since i posted this topic i have learned circulars and yes they are easy and fun to use.
Yea! Good for you!
