I always make a slip knot when doing the long tail cast on, but with the yarn I’m working with it seems to make a hole when I get back to that stitch, so I’m trying the method shown in the video where you don’t make a slip knot. My question is - the first stitch when “I” do it is a DOUBLE stitch, is that right?? But when I get back down there to knit through it, it is VERY tight. UGH! I’ve never had so much trouble casting on before!:hair:
Yes, when doing a standard long tail CO the first stitch is always doubled. I just count it as two stitches and work from there.
If your CO is too tight try casting on to two needles at the same time instead of one.
My CO is really tight, and recently I’ve begun CO over two needles, and it really helps.
You can use a needle a couple sizes larger to CO, or don’t pull the yarn really tight when you CO.
