Made three of these while sitting on the beach in Hawaii. Very easy knit except you have to keep count of your rows.
Little cowl project
Very pretty cowl which looks lovely on. Ah, just the thought of knitting on the beach in Hawaii is warming. Hope it was a good break for you.
Very nice! I’ve been knitting in my recliner a lot. It’s just as good as the beach for me!
I’ve never been able to count rows in a cable. I just can’t see the definition. I’m sure more practice would help. Maybe I should make some on really big needles and learn how to do it. Here’s how I keep count in general. It’s really the only way that works for me
I can’t see cable crosses either! Rather than work hit or miss, I use a marker in stockinette stitch near the cable cross row and count up rows in stockinette. There’s usually some area even if it’s reverse stockinette. That always works for me.
I think that’s what I do too. I haven’t done cables for several months. I learned that the cables squeeze the fabric and that you can’t Kitchener two ends. At any rate, I hope it’s keeping my son warm in Minnestota! I’m not finding a picture of the matching hat. He loves owl, which you might be able to see if you squint or use your imagination!
Very clever.and lovely scarf that looks toasty enough even for Minnesota.
Thank you!
Actually it was only 15 stitches every 7 rows that had the cable stitch. Other than that it was all garter stitch. So easy but had to keep track to keep my cables right size.
Sounds easy enough! Very nice cowl! I can’t stand things close around my neck anymore. I had steroid acne caused by overuse (approved by nurse practitioner) of steroid for rash on my neck about 18 years ago. I was on antibiotics for six months to clear that up!
