Light lemon tweed

That’s s o pretty! It’ll look great with your dark hair!

wow! yummy!!! :inlove:

Swatch Alert!

Globaltraveler sent me 9 yds! From this I was able to create a gauge swatch for CASSIDY! I got perfect gauge using a US6 needle! 19st=4" and 24rows=4". I wasn’t able to knit all 24 rows…but I got more than 12, and from 12 rows I got 2"!

Isn’t it beautiful!?

And here is the pattern, CASSIDY!

Omigosh, that’s going to look great in that pattern!

No troubles – what’s the point of sending a yarn sample if you can’t knit a little swatch from it?

I just LOVE this place (KnittingHelp). We are an amazing, wonderful, helpful, cool, special, group of amazing, wonderful, helpful, cool, special people. There is never a problem … personal or knitting that does not get full attention from someone. There is never an accomplishment … personal or knitting that does not get full recognition and praise. Where else would someone bother to send a bunch of string across an ocean to someone who would appreciate that bunch of string and treat it like gold! I am blessed to be a part of this group!

That pattern is going to be gorgeous in that yarn! I can’t wait to see the finished product. I’m so envious of your ability. How long did it take for you to become so accomplished?

I’ve been knitting since 1970. :aww: Should I be admitting that? :teehee:

Couldn’t knit as much when all of our children were home. But after the last one walked out the door and straight down the aisle, I’ve had a lot more time for myself! (oh, that was 1999!) :happydance:

The ole Empty Nest has a knitter sitting right smack dab in the middle of it! :knitting:

I asked for exactly same yarn for my birthday and my mom and sister ordered me 3 skeins of Lime Green for my CPH. It’s absolutely gorgeous, the colors are much better than on the screen. ArtLady, i’m glad you’ve found them!

That is just gorgeous!! I love that yarn. Yellow is a nice and that is a nice yellow. The pattern is cool and together they will be great. How nice to have Globaltraveler send you 9 whole yards of yarn. I hope she won’t end up 9 yards short on something.

Nope, not short on anything – I’d decided to get simply 100 grams, and then just make a few things to sell in order to defray the costs of the yarn, so 9 yards wasn’t any skin off my teeth whatsoever! Anyway, they sell by the gram at the woolens place down the street, so I could have bought a few grams easily enough to send it out as a sample!

The Spinners have a new website

Yay! I can highly recommend this yarn shop in Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland! At the Commodum! I ordered on a Saturday, he emailed a thank you note later that day, I asked a question about shipping times, he answered immediately. He shipped on that Monday, and the mailman delivered it to my door on the very next Monday!!!

I don’t get yarn from WEBS this fast!

Anyway, here is my lemon tweed!
CITRON YELLOW #4897

Certificate of Authenticity!

Thanks again to all of you who helped me find my lemon yellow tweed!
And a special thanks to Zina, our Globaltraveler, who shops at this very LYS!

Lovely yarn, and good service. Can’t beat that.

They’re very good at Commodum, and they take their web orders very seriously – when I ordered 100 grams of 5 different colors off the big cones of yarn they keep in the store, he asked if I wouldn’t mind coming back later in the day (so that he could get the Web orders ready for the postman first, not that he said so, but since he was in the middle of measuring and winding about a jillion balls of wool, I could tell!).

Guess who is going to Co. Kerry on her holidays??? I am so going to this shop. All I have to do is ditch the hubby and 3 kids - can you imagine the damage my 2 and 4 year olds could do there?

Irishmam

You’ll really like the shop – they’ve lots of handcrafts all over the place, along with framed art and more!

But of course the best bit is the part to the left of the door as you walk in…cones and cones of Donegal Tweed yarn!

One of the other knitwear shops in town (the one next to the SuperValu at the bottom of Green Street) carries DK weight tweed in limited amounts - very limited in color range, though.

When are your holidays? We should meet up and have a cup of coffee or tea and do some knitting.

ETA: Oops, I think it’s ARAN weight they carry…sorry about that!

 This is me, green with envy!

Have a great time, and take photos of the shop for us!!!

I’m working in County Donegal at the minute, and I’ve been contemplating visiting the mill at Kilcar (where the stuff is spun), but I know it’ll take me at least an hour to travel across the county to get there, and I probably wont get out of work in time to make it before closing time, but I think they sell it in Donegal town too, which may be a more realistic goal.
I don’t really NEED any more wool, but I seem to keep acquiring it…

Oooh, if you make it, Lucy, tell us if they carry any other of the fancy, other weight yarns – apparently they do spin other versions of their yarns for certain companies.

Zina - we are in Kerry the 3rd week of August, but only for 4 days. I would love to meet up for a coffee if time allows.

Lucy - I hope you get to Donegal in time. I am visiting the Foxford Woollen Mills soon, with my daughter’s school on their summer trip - get them young I say. I bet they will have a stunning selection!

Isn’t it great to see that Ireland is still forging ahead in this traditional but modern industry!
