I was wondering if anyone on here lived in Greenville, NC or knew someone who knitted that lived in Greenville, NC that could give me lessons either at a business or out of their home! Thanks!

Here’s a list of yarn stores in NC…with reviews, telling you what services they offer:

Hi

Thanks for your response, however I did not see any for Greenville, NC. Do you think I should try Micheal’s or maybe they could refer me to a knitter in town?

WOW! You really are in the middle of nowhere! The closest one is about 90 miles from you, poor thing!

The Michaels near me DOES have knitting classes every once in a while…but, have you checked out the ā€œGetting Startedā€ videos here? They really are VERY good.

Hello
I don’t know how far you are from Jacksonville, NC, but there is Phootsy’s Yarn Cottage there that offers alot of classes.
Dawn

You are in Eastern NC and unfortunately, there aren’t many yarn shops in those ā€œpartsā€ā€¦I am originally from Dunn (near Raleigh)…I heard that there was a yarn shop in Wilson, which is about 45 minutes from you…I googled and here is the info:

Knit Wit of Wilson
Barbara Frantz, 2801-1B Ward Boulevard North, Wilson, NC 27896, 919.291.8149

Also, you aren’t but about an hour from Raleigh and Cary…a couple of nice shops in those cities…BUT…I would recommend that you buy the SNB book and WATCH AMY’S VIDEOS as well as ask questions when you get ā€œstuckā€ā€¦I haven’t taken an official class and have learned almost everything thus far from KNITTINGHELP.COM…I think you’ll find that you can learn almost anything here and with the SNB book…this is one great site :cheering:

Joyce

What is the SNB book? Thanks!

It’s a book by Debbie Stoller…Official name is Stitch 'N Bitch and you can purchase it online through Barnes and Noble or Amazon and most book stores carry the book. It’s a very good reference book when you’re just beginning.

I think the videos on KNITTINGHELP.COM will help you more than anything else…just start from the ā€œGetting Startedā€ tab above, then go through the basic technique videos…IMO-continental knitting is the way to go for ease of learning, but again, that is personal preference…the continental videos are the ones with the pink icons.

I started knitting in November, 2004…was shown how to do only the knit stitch and purchased the SNB book…I didn’t find this site until January and have found it to be like having a teacher online…and without feeling the pressure of a ā€œclassā€ There are some great knitters on this forum and they’re always willing to help. Just remember…do not get too frustrated…it takes lots of practice and there’s always something to learn or ways to improve your technique once you do get the hang of it…soon, you will find yourself :XX:

I can’t believe it! I just came on line looking for the exact same thing. I will be moving from Massachusetts to Greenville at the end of the summer and love to knit. I am currently in a knitting group and will miss it when I leave. I also want to find other knitters in the greenville area.

I’m in Goldsboro, NC and couldn’t find anything around here either :frowning: Thank goodness for Knitting Help!

Hi,
I will be moving to Greenville, NC in a few weeks and would love to meet up with other knitters! I saw the previous threads on finding someone to teach them and I would be happy to get together for that as well. I would consider myself a beginner, but would be happy to share what I know. I would also love to hear from other knitters in the area. It is always nice to be inspired to knit!
