Leslie Sansone Walking DVD's

$15 sounds good for trying something out. I might toddle down there today and see what my K-mart has. Thanks for posting about that!

Hey, wanted to thank all of you for recommending these videos. I found them on sale at Target for $12.99 and $14.99. Bought them a few weeks ago, but they were the same price yesterday as well. Finally got around to popping one in the DVD yesterday and did the first 1 mile walk. Wow! That was nice. She wasn’t overly happy and was encouraging without being obnoxious (the problem I have with many of the exercise dvd’s that I’ve run into) It also wasn’t monotonous and she changed things around a bit from time to time to keep it just from feeling like you are marching in place. I really enjoyed it! Plus two of my kids joined me and said they liked it too!

OK, this is just me, but I have 3 or 4 of her videos, and while I might use them if I’m not feeling quite up to par, they didn’t do a darn thing for me as far as toning or weight loss.
I’m one of those weird people that has to really bust my behind if I want any pounds to go away…7 years go I lost 75 pounds (which, yes, due to some very stressful life experiences and injuries have managed to come back so I’m starting all over again…:gah: ) and to get the weight off, I had to do 20-30 minutes of weight training 3 days a week, and Nordic Track for 45 minutes (on an incline setting and with pretty stiff resistance levels) 5-6 days a week.
I use Kathy Smith’s Lift Weights To Lose Weight 1 & 2 for the weight training part, and since I’ve developed plantar fasciitis in both feet and am forbidden to do the Nordic Track for now but got the OK for using an elliptical I’ll be using it for the cardio part. I’d started off pretty well, but then got lazy (??) when I had to start my holiday knitting…so it’s back to square one for me:eyes:
Good Luck!!!

Hey Knitncook,

I’m glad you liked them. I really enjoy them too. Even DH has begun to use them and likes them too. I’ve pushed myself up to doing the 4 mile fast walk which has what she calls “boosted walking” which is really a light jog. I really get a workout with that one. And the other thing I really enjoy is the ‘music only’ option she has on some of the workouts. There are times I just want to listen to music and not the constant chattering. And sometimes I listen to her talk. Like you said, she’s not overly annoying which is a huge plus in my book.

I’m so glad I have found them, I think she’s great! I bought the QVC special she had on New Years day, it was 4 dvd’s and a meal plan for like $30 with shipping included! I couldn’t pass that up! The price has gone up a few dollars, but not much and right now it’s a waitlist only but it will come back in stock and for that price, well, I just wanted to let you know!! The item number is F03006. Just type that into the search bar and it’ll come up and you can see what you all get for the price. And if you don’t like it then they return your original shipping too! So you are only losing the money it costs to ship it back to them. That’s the only reason I keep shopping with them.

Just wanted to be an enabler. :teehee:

Just curious, I glanced through the posts - sorry if I missed something obvious! Are these DVDs that you can use in conjunction with a treadmill, or is it something totally different?

Nope, don’t apologize! It’s an aerobic walking exercise dvd. You don’t use a treadmill or anything, you just pop it in the dvd player and start walking. It’s that easy! She does different types of walking moves throughout each mile segment she does. Kicking and knee lifts and kick-backs (where you kick your foot back to your butt). It’s a nice variety when you do different versions. And side steps too. Go to Kmart and buy one. They are pretty cheap there and if you don’t like it then you haven’t spent too much.

Good luck!!

Oh, LOL! After reading your description, I could just see me trying to do that on the treadmill!! Can you say “traction”??? :roflhard:

Thanks for the information!

:roflhard: :roflhard:

Oh my, you sure would break your neck and a lot more if you did all that on a treadmill. :teehee:

Miccisue - the Leslie workouts are pretty low intensity workouts. I think they’re great for those who are trying to get back into working out or for more advanced people’s light workout days. If you’re looking for more advanced workouts, they’re out there, but you generally won’t find them in stores. Check out www.collagevideo.com, or www.cathe.com, or www.beachbody.com for some more intense workouts. Good luck with healing your plantar fasciitis - that hurts!

I thought I’d add that if anyone wants guided workouts for a treadmill or stationary bike, look at www.cardiocoach.com or www.itrain.com - both allow you to download MP3 workouts.

Cool cftwo!! I’ll look into those!!

Yep, that’s what I’m using them for. I have a very sedentary job and sit for hours on end. I’ve also been quite sedentary over the past 2 years. We are planning a Disney vacation for later this year and besides just needing to be in better shape, I know that one day of walking at WDW would do me in. So I’m “in training”. :roflhard:
