Leg Openings for a Doggie Sweater

Hello everyone:

I’m trying to learn how to do a doggie sweater and I’ve reached a spot where I’m stumped:

Leg Openings: 1st row:K5. BO next 4 sts. K36. BO next 4 sts. Knit to end of row. (I used the same kneedles from rest of project to bind off, I hope that was right.

Now here is the problem: Beg with purl row, work 1 inch in stocking stitch from bound off sts. ending with RS facing next row.

So I’m wondering do I knit the center where I knit 36 stitches for one inch or am I supposed to do something else.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure, but that sounds right. Can you read a bit further and see if it makes more sense? Sometimes that helps.

Bumping for someone with dog sweater knowledge.

If I remember this pattern right, you are working the 3 sections at one time (the 5 on each end and the center 36) with 3 separate balls of yarn. After you work that inch of stockinette, you knit across the whole thing with one ball and close your leg holes (so that line would be K5, CO 4, K36, CO 4, K5).

Oh Ok; that was a very simple explanation.

Thank you so much. I completely understand. Thanks
