Leftover sock wool (fingerling) toddler mitten pattern

I cannot seem to find a pattern for mittens for a two year old using leftover sock wool. Lots of patterns out there using DK or worsted. I made a pair and they are big and bulky on those wee little hands. Does anyone know of a pattern for toddlers using sock wool?

Here’s a pattern for various yarn weights and sizes including fingering and toddler size.

Thank you Salmonmac. Would I get a smaller mitt if I used the worsted weight pattern but used fingerling yarn? I used this pattern with worsted weight and the mitts were huge on her.

Measure her hand if you can.

The smallest size is 5 inches. If you cast on 32sts with fingering at the given gauge (26sts/4") the finished size is 5 inches which is the same as casting on 20sts with worsted weight (20sts/4"). It seems to me that the fingering is going to be less stiff on a small hand.

If your yarn is giving you more sts /4" however, that’ll make a smaller mitten. An alternative is to play around with your gauge and the number of cast on sts.
