I’m full of questions on this “easy” cable bootie pattern from knittingonthenet.com! I’ve knitted 16 rows successfully til this section. It says…
This section is the top of the bootie. K/P (24 total stitches), leave remaining sts unworked. Slip all sts with yarn in front:
Row 1: Sl1 from left to rt needle, turn, p2, k2, pr, k2, p1.
Row 2: …from cable needle
I’m in the middle of a row, how do I leave it unworked now? turn it around? If I do, row 1 directions don’t have enough stitches to fill it. and Row 2 gives stitches from cable needle, which is the first time a cable needle is even mentioned.
I’m stymied!! Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Yep, you turn your needle there as if you were at the end of the row, only after you slip the st. Then turn and do the 11 sts ( p2, k2, p4, k2, p1). Slip the next st and turn and this is where it tells you to slip 2 sts to the cable needle - Sl 1, turn, k2, p2, slip two sts to cable needle and hold in front, k2, k2 from cable needle, p2, k2.
Just follow the instructions step by step and it usually does work out. It’s easy to overlook a word or three as well, so it’s good to check your work against the pattern.
