Hi!
I’m trying to follow the instructions for the brioche pattern Lattice Brioche Blanket and am stumped on how to do the lattice portion. I’ve tried following the written instructions and also tried the chart with no luck. I’ve googled tons of videos and written instructions on how to do what the author calls brk3-3.
Is there another name for this stitch I could search for that would help?
Also, it appears to me the chart doens’t really follow the written instructions since the chart shows 15 stitches but you cast on 183 stitches which does not divide evenly by 15. Perhaps she is ignoring the first and last stitch?
Thank you very much in advance for any help!
Welcome to the forum!
Beautiful blanket pattern with an intriguing variation on brioche stitch. This 3-3 stitch is also called the brioche star stitch. See if the video helps.
It does look as though the 3 edge sts are ignored in the chart. I haven’t followed a brioche chart before so it’s out of my experience. The written directions seem clear and it may be that if you work a few repeats, you’ll be able to reconcile them with the chart.
Awww…thank you for the welcome and thank you very much for finding the answer! I’ve been struggling with this project for over a week and now I can continue…exciting!
I’m making the blanket for my step-mother who just moved into assisted living. I thought it would be a nice addition for her new home.
I’ll try to remember to post my FO - hopefully soon!
What a kind and remarkably gorgeous blanket. She will be the envy of the residence.
We would love to see the finished blanket in all its glory.
Regarding the chart, it shows 5 edge stitches at the beginning of the row and 6 at the end of the row, with the pattern repeat being 4 stitches. This fits with the stitch count - 183-11=172. 172 stitches give 43 pattern repeats.
The repeat section is outlined in orange and jogs over later in the chart.
Note that every row is not charted e.g the 30 repeats of rows 1 and 2 are not charted. You need to follow the written instructions in combination with the chart, paying attention to how they’ve numbered the rows .
It’s a lovely pattern!
Thank you for explaining the chart! That helps. This is probably not the best pattern to do my first brioche project but i’m learning a lot!
Beautiful blanket and brioche. The stitch work is lovely. You jumped right into two color brioche plus stitch pattern and made a treasure.
Ooh that is beautiful! What a lovely result.
Wow. That is a beautiful blanket.
