I am a beginner and am ready to bind off (making a scarf). I have done it, but it was years ago. What do I do with the final stitch to keep it from unraveling?

Break off (cut) the yarn and pull the tail through the remaining stitch and that’ll do it!
Cut the yarn, leaving a few inches, then either pull it through the loop, or pull on the loop. Then take the tail and thread it through nearby stitches.
