I love lace… but I don’t have time :verysad: I have the Swallow Tail on my to do list and the one you posted Becka… I also have this one ready to go … and this one in the magazine its better pictured… and I told dh today that I want Victorian Lace Today by Jane Sowerby…
I love that peacock one too…and the Lacy Lattice stole lol I gotta stop looking cause it will be awhile before I get to any of these… :teehee:
Oh, Dusti, I want that book, too! Is it out already?! Nope! I just looked at Amazon, they have a great pre-order price, too-$19.77!
I love all the shawls you have on your list, Dusti! LOL, you sound like me with my 3 or 4…or is it 5 :?? that are on my list…and, of course, the #4 Cape in Holiday Vogue…it’s moved close to the top of my list…I think I will knit it with the Cash Iroha that’s on the way, it’s a light blue…yum :cheering: :cheering:
The designer ships really quick, too. Well, if you’re going to make it too, then I’ll get off my butt keep working on it. Which means I need to decide ASAP if I want to keep with the yarn I have or switch. Oh, and I’m part of the Yahoo KAL too!! Did you join?
did you know there is a silk yarn one skein 880 yards and cost less than $10 and free shipping …someone listed here in this web but i wonder you came across that post before ??? she recommended the web and using it to make lace shawl…

Most definately In the recent digest, I’m the one commenting that I had to get the pattern… emailed her and will be paying via paypal later tonight after I get done balancing the checkbook. She even answered the questions I had as to how much yarn and what size needles I need to pick up. I absolutely cannot wait to start this!!
On the one in my blog I used a size 5. I’m doing the second one and am using a 3 and I like it better in the 3. I did the entire thing and had some left over, but not much. (Anyone contemplating the Swallowtail shawl with this - I did do five extra repeats of the first lace pattern)
Rebecca: “I’m bookmarking it!
I don’t really like to knit with lace wt yarn, I love to knit lace patterns, but lace yarn akeers me” – ah, don’t be scared. Try it, you might like it! That shawl I did with it was my first time with lace weight. Didn’t realize how much difference a size or two in needles would make. What about getting two skeins of it and knitting with it doubled?? Still only be $16 for a shawl. Though I sure wouldn’t do a pattern with nupps and the yarn doubled… :-x
I can’t make up my mind if the Dragone shawl would look better in Lost Lake, Sunset or Vineyard… anyone used Lost lake? Is it more green or more brown? Depending on the monitor I use, it looks different. Any thoughts would be welcome! If it’s more green, that’s what I’ll use. If not, I’ll have to debate the other two colors.
Mine is in Sunset, which is more orangey than I thought it would be, but it’s still ok. I haven’t seen lost lake, but the vineyard looks beautiful, too. I’m finding the Shadow to be a little fuzzy (well not really fuzzy, but it’s getting a little hard to see a lot of stitch definition). Maybe it will be better with blocking? I should work on it a little more just to see if I think I should continue with it. :wall:
Well, I ordered knitpicks circulars in sz 2 &3 as well as “Shadow” in the Lost Lake colorway. Now I just have to patiently wait for my Dragones pattern and yarn to get here… I’ll be diving in as soon as it gets here, so I’m going to work on finishing my projects that are OTN
Rebecca, I’m kind of seeing your point about the lace weight. I think I like the weight of a heavier yarn. The lace shawls are more like decoration than anything.
I have several shawl patterns, a couple Fiber Trends Leaf Lace and Flower Basket shawls are written for anywhere from lace wt to light worsted…I have dk and worsted yarn for these shawls. I’ve got worsted for the vogue lace shawl, too…and for another! I want my shawls to be big and warm.
Maybe one day I will like it, but now, I just don’t like knitting with lace, gets on my last nerve and we all know that ain’t good :roflhard: :roflhard:
