I saw this somewhere and can’t remember where. It may have been in an ad from the newspaper or on the internet, but I can’t find it. It looked like a regular stockinette stiched hat, but the edge instead of being ribbed was lacy. It was so pretty and feminine. Any ideas where I might find something like this? I don’t think I know enough to do the lace edge on my own yet. I looked in Knitting Pattern Central already.
Jan…I wrote one…PM me your e-mail address and I will send you the pdf.
ETA…oops, here is a photo, so you can see if you want it or not! It’s written for a baby but I’d be glad to help you resize the pattern for an adult if that’s what you need.
oooh that is pretty. are you having it published?
Thanks! No, I’m not…but I wrote it up so I wouldn’t forget how I made it.
Would you mind sharing it with me also, it is perfect I would need it in an adult size.
Pulllease
No problem…you’ll have to tell me two things though…your gauge (choose a yarn and knit a swatch!) and what you want the finished circumference of the hat to be. PM me that info along with your e-mail address and I will get it to you.
Julie…I would so love one, too!! 20.5 in circumference with 5st=1 in gauge…and :cheering: :cheering: and thanks so much :notworthy: !! I will put it on my to do list right away YOU ARE SUCH A SWEETIE
EDIT…I pm’ed you
Oh I love it! I assume you measure your head to get circumference… can you tell me where to measure? Is it from base of head to front as the hat would fit? I will get the gauge measurements, too! Thanks!
Jan, just around where the bottom edge of the hat will lie.
You guys can be my adult-size pattern testers
YAY :cheering: :cheering:
Oh Julie!!! Me too Me too!!! I’ve been searching for a few hat patterns because I need to make a few and that would be perfect!!! I’m not sure of my measurement - I wonder what the standard woman’s head is? :??
Well, mine is 22"…seems average…
I wish I had a tape measure but I trust that you are average!!! :cheering:
You’re in trouble now, Julie. We’re ALL going to want this. Maybe you’ll need to rethink the publication issue!?!?
Do you think this hat would work as a chemo cap, or is the lacework too “open”?
In any event … I want to make one for myself and I’ll try it out as a chemo cap, too.
I’m PMing you now. Thanks!
:XX:
Okay, here’s an update: I think I’m done with the pattern, I am just testing it myself now to make sure it’s not too far off. Good thing, because the one I started this afternoon was waaaay too big. But the one I have on the needles now seems to be the right size!
I’m really excited because I had considered submitting it to headhuggers.org before but hadn’t gotten around to resizing the pattern. Y’all have given me the push I needed!
Julie - I’d say you have some test knitters too!! I’m a newbie so I’m sure I’ll have questions!! I’m so excited!!! For you too!! :cheering:
Okay…it’s ready! I just e-mailed the pattern to those of you who asked…except the ones who didn’t give me their e-mail addresses! It’s a PDF file so I can’t attach it to a PM…I’ll need a real e-mail address.
Thank you so much, Julie! The pattern looks wonderful and I can’t wait to try it! I’ll be getting some yarn for it tomorrow! :happydance: :XX:
I love this hat! I have been lurking for a while, but became a member just so that I could post! I would love to test the pattern out for you as well, for myself or for my 4 year old DD.
