i am attempting my first lace doilly:

i just have one question…

it says:

[I]All rows not indicated are knit plain.
All double yarn overs are K1, P1 on the following plain row.
[/I]

the rows after double yarn overs - is the whole row K1, P1? or is it just in the area of the double YO

Just the double YO sts.

when you have a double yarnover you cannot do two knits or two purls into the double yarnover (It just plain doesn’t work) so you have to do somehing else to get the two stitches into that double yarnover. Most common is to k1, p1 into the space. You could also knit front and then knit into the back in that double loop.
