Lace cast-on

I’m getting ready to knit the Birch from Rowan. But it says that you need to do the Lace Cast-On. I don’t recall this cast on. Any advice out there? Anyone?

Or if not the Lace Cast-On, did anyone do this with a differenct cast on?

It’s the same as the knitted cast on.
