Is it common for a new skein of yarn to have a knot in it?
Knot in yarn
Not often in the yarn I’ve used but it does happen.
I cut either side to remove the knot and leave a 6 inch tail on both pieces to weave in later.
There are industry standards for yarn knots believe it or not. It’s possible to find one or two knots in a skein, annoying but it happens.

Yes, unfortunately that happens quite a bit. If i come across a knot during cast on i cut the yarn off and start again. If it comes up later on i cut it out and tie a knot with 3" tails that i weave later.

I think this qualifies as spam and have flagged it. This thread is about knots, which has nothing to do with knitting lights.
