How cute!! I work in a home where I have to take my shoes off at night and my tootsies get cold so those would be a good idea!
about the width, honestly I just followed the other persons pattern, ie 30 stitches which will change how tall the heel is among other things. Once you get a bit on try pinching up the end around your heel to see if it is alright and the width (hight of the shoe agaist your foot) seems to work out for you. But kniting is strechy! I should think if 30 stitchs worked for both myself (with a size 8 rather narrow) and my fiance who has moster feet which are rather wide (I did add in a small stripe of black ribbing on his to make them wider around the front of the foot) it should work for about anyone.
Sooo…5sts/inch, cast on 30sts, that would make your piece about 6 inches wide. So I suppose you could use any nifty little stitch pattern to come up with the same size piece…hmmmm the possibilities!!! :happydance:
