I love this idea - knitting is a wonderful thing to do while hanging out with people, & I love all ideas like knitting parties, dinners, get-togethers etc…
So if someone offered you the chance to go ona knitting retreat in the mountains or at the beach, would you do it?
Totally! I would prefer it to be during one of the school breaks, so my friend could go with me. Nice weather (summer) is always nice, but knitting is one of those things that’s great to do inside on cold, rainy/snowy days (a roaring fireplace, hot tea, great music/conversation…)
What would you like to see on a knitting retreat?
a relaxing, nature setting; knitting classes on basic & advanced techniques & designing/altering patterns; sit & knit sessions on particular projects (like live KALs); other fun stuff like yoga
What could you resonably afford?
a few hundred dollars max . I think the idea of having sort of a yarn fair and getting the yarn makers to foot some of the bill is a great idea. It would probably require extra organizing & efforts to get the word out, but that would get more people there and that would be a good thing! :D
Would you fly or does it have to be local (one hour or less away)?
I am totally willing to fly, as long as the cost isn’t prohibitive. There are a lot of airlines offering low fares to major cities - it probably wouldn’t be too hard to organize shuttles from the airport. Perhaps it would be easier to organize one on each coast, or in different regions?
Would you share a room?
Yes, as long as there is enough space (and a relaxed roomate  )
Would you need special food?
I eat everything, but only free-range/organic meat, & no farm-raised fish is preferred (in a perfect world ). Traditional American food is not my favorite, but I’m not picky as long as its good!
I really like this idea, is anyone willing to tackle organizing this? Also, we can’t be the first people to like this idea - are there any retreats that are already being organized somewhere?
