I would love to knit lace socks on double point needles. Is that even possible?

Yes, not only possible, there are hundreds of patterns for lace socks on dpns and even more that can easily be adapted to them.

Sure is. After all. circulars are a relatively recent invention while DPNs are very old.
(By the way, if you get ladders between needles, don’t panic. The first time you wash the socks or wear them, the yarn will shift around and even out.)
