Knitting pattern abbreviations

Hi,
I have a pattern from Craftown.com for a baby layette called Baby Ensemble and it has a strange abbreviation that is mentioned several times but NOT in the abbreviation section. Please help.
This is it: %uFFFD.

THIS IS THE ROW: 11: P 1, * p next 3 sts tog, � leave on needle, 0, k same 3 sts tog, slip off needle, p 1, repeat from * across row.

I think this may be some formatting code that shows where it shouldn’t.

  • p next 3 sts tog, %uFFFD leave on needle, 0, k same 3 sts tog, slip off needle

I think maybe it should be: p next 3 sts tog, leave on needle, k same 3 sts tog, slip off needle … but the 0 after [I]leave on needle[/I], seems to indicate something else should be happening. Working p3tog then k3tog into the same stitches then slipping them off the needle nets a decrease of 1.

I don’t know how to enlarge the picture to see if that would help see what’s going on.
