Knitting on circular needles

Hello I am new to your site and have enjoyed the photos of beautiful creations. I have recently started knitting and now I have a pair of circular bamboo needles. I love them and am wondering if I can do anything I can do on straight on the circular?
thanks so much! Beth

Yes, you don’t have to join the rows on circs, just turn at the end of the row and work back just like you do with straight needles. They’re a lot easier to work blankets, large shawls and seamless cardigans on because the cords will hold lots more stitches than straight needles will.

I am a warrior for circular needles. I just inherited some straight needles that went into my archive but in 30+ years of knitting I have never bought straight needles. (I did have some to start with). I do not know anything you can do on straight needles that you can not do on circs. (Or am I wrong now?)

I love circs for ergonomic reasons: since the stitches stay closer to the middle they do not have so much leverage and therefore keeps the shoulders carry less.

That is my personal preference and opinion.

Nope - anything you can do with straights you can do with circulars. The length and weight of even 10" straight ones makes knitting awkward.
