Has anyone ever knitted on a plane.
Flying British Airways if that helps?
Hiya! I always knit on the plane! I’ve never had problems with airlines, including BA, flying around Europe, USA and North Africa. I generally use interchange needles/ cables, and carry necessary accessories, including small scissors. I’ve never been questioned or had anything confiscated. UK gov. advice lists all the things you can bring on as hand luggage but many folk suggest checking with the specific airline/ route in addition. Best way to fly!!
I have flown all over Europe with my knitting. If leaving the USA, download a copy of the TSA rules and highlight the part that says knitting needles are okay. You can also contact the specific airlines and get an email that states its okay. When I flew to Romania, we had no problem going in and Luthanza Airlines gave me a letter stating my needles were okay. As we were leaving the country, one of the security guys tried to confiscate 2 of my four little crochet hooks. I’m pretty sure he wanted them for his wife. (If he had asked, I’d have given them to him!). I refused to let him take them and demanded to speak to a supervisor - my husband was telling me to just give them to him so we could board. I told the supervisor that I had a letter and he demanded to see it. He was totally surprised when I produced it and then complained that it was in English. I responded “Well, Duh! I’m an American!” He gave me back my letter and let me board, but told me “Don’t bring them back!”
