knitting cat ears

I am relatively new to knitting. I am wanting to knit tiny cat ears. Only 8 stitches at the base going down to 1 stitch. They are knitted flat. I am not sure which type of needle to use. The easy pattern doesn’t say.

P.S. The pattern is Bernat fat cat toy.

You can use whichever needle you’d like, straight needles, circular or 2 dpns. You’ll be knitting back and forth on the needles.
