Yes, I know I’ve posted a lot in the last couple of days…
But this is about designing a bag/holder for knitting supplies. The photo below is of what I have now, an ArtBin folder I bought at JoAnn last summer for about $15, when I finally accumulated enough needles that I couldn’t just poke them thru a ball of yarn or leave them in a half-finished project.
But now, only a few months later, it is becoming inadequate, and I don’t have lots of spare money lying around to spend on one of those nice knitting bags.
So my question is, has anyone here designed their own knitting bag, even just a folder for needles and assorted odds and ends? Is there a certain design that works well? Really I already have a tote bag I use for projects, so making a whole new bag might not be necessary. I just need a compact way to store needles and odds and ends.
Personally I don’t like the deep pockets on the right-hand side of the ArtBin folder. I’ve thought about making a needle roll (I have a paintbrush roll from when I took a Japanese calligraphy class, and I could easily do something similar for knitting/crochet needles), but I don’t think that would be good for holding scissors, stitch markers, gauge checker, etc.
I suppose that’s enough rambling. Thoughts?
