Knitting baby balls for my granddaughter

the skill level says easy but I am having a terrible time getting started. The sizes are in small medium and large. When only 1 number is given, it applies to all sizes.Example roe 3 says: Knit (work inc row, work inc row). (5,8,9 sts) Row 4 says: Work inc row (knit, knit). (7, 8, 9 sts). I cannot figure out what it is telling me to do, can you help me?

Welcome to KnittingHelp!
It may be that you’re working this is sections. Take a look at all the instructions at the beginning of the pattern and see if they explain the “knit, knit”. Are there later directions that are “knit, purl”?
Can you give us a link to the pattern?

This is a multi size pattern. You will frequently find these for baby patterns. The knit (work increase, work increase) for example. For the small size you would knit only. The medium size you would work the increase, and the large size you would work the increase. The directions for the small size are first, the first one that’s in the brackets is for the medium size, the second one in the bracket is the large size. The 5,6,7 is the stitch count. It’s a way to check your work to be sure you’re doing it right. The stitch count of 5 is for the small size. The stitch count for the 6 is the medium size. The stitch count of 7 is the large size. The best thing is to print out the pattern then circle the numbers for the size you’re doing so you don’t get confused.

Which ball pattern are you making? I made this one.
