I have sweater pattern which has a zipper.I have got to the point where my pattern says work in pattern over the first 42 stitches.I have done this now says join another ball of yarn cast off 1 stick then work in pattern to the end. My question is which side do I join the the another ball of yarn.I have never knitted a sweater with a zipper before.
Hello
what is the name of the pattern?
Sounds like a zip at the neck, is that right?
Without seeing the pattern I would say you are jn the front, right side row. The first 42 sts will be the left, as you wear it, front.
Join the new ball here, directly after the 42 sts. Use the new ball to cast off the next stitch and then continue with the new ball of yarn to work the right side, as you wear it, to the end of the row.
The single stitch will be at the bottom of the zip.
Now you will have 2 balls of working yarn, one on the right and one on the left.
Hope this helps
the pattern is from Mary Maxim it is called Ribbed Tunic. The first 42 stitches are on my right.
Thank you so much for your help.
Maybe this one?
When you say the first 42 sts are on your right, do you mean right as you look at the knitting whilst working it? This will be the left of the sweater as you wear it.
Thanks for the pattern name. Looking at the sweater I think I have advised correctly about starting the second ball.
Ask if you get stuck again.
