When I’m not knitting I get fidgety and WANT that yarn in my fingers and those damned needles too.
When I’m knitting I can, at times, get frustrated at how long my projects take to finish (then I realise I’m knitting jumpers, vests, hooddies for goodness’ sake and not egg cosy covers).
When I’m knitting a project I find it difficult to focus on the project at hand and get excited about my next one (even though I’m not sure what it might be).
Does this sound familiar or am I just a silly knit-wit??
You sound like a knitting junkie to me. :noway: Too familiar. :mrgreen: We must have our needles and yarn but resent the compulsion. I like having something smaller to work on when I get sick and tired of my larger project. I can get my knitting fix and get a break. This forum could be subtitled Codependent Knitters Unanimous. :teehee:
I call it knitters’ ADD (attention deficit disorder). Always looking at the next project, the next yarn, etc. I guess this is the reason for all my unfinished projects. :shrug:
We’ve often joked that if knitter’s went to KA meetings, we’d all bring our knitting, and ‘share’ our latest yarns and projects–not conducive to recovery!
Sounds like me. The other day we were getting out of the car to go eat Chinese food, and my kids said, “DON’T bring your knitting in!”
No sooner do I get one skein of yarn, then I am looking at 3 others. My husband says I have enough yarn to knit everyone in the neighborhood (including several horses) a sweater.
There’s a Venn Diagram on the net that basically says if you find yourself in a roomful of people who wear long sleeved sweaters in summer and share needles with each other you’re either in the local crack house or the local knitting club!
The sweaters (well cardigans, as they button up down the front) were commisioned by VisitScotland to highlight the two best known exports from the Shetlands ie ponies and knitwear. So they were only worn for the shooting of the campaign and apart from a little dust round the ‘cuffs’ came out of it ok.
I glad you picked up on that, but I’ve just spent the last two and a half months working with a woman who gets irritated when anyone writes ‘bare with’ instead of ‘bear with’. It doesn’t help that one of the other companies in the same building has that spelling mistake on the side of its delivery van.:teehee:
I noticed the the misspelling of bear when I first read the original post, I do pick up on things like that but I tend to see my own mistakes after someone points them out or much later when I read it again. I wasn’t being knit picky about spelling, I was enjoying playing with words when I commented. I didn’t think I was being offensive but if so, now people will know I didn’t mean to be. If I offended anyone, and I’m thinking mostly of David, I’m sorry. And, Julie, I’m not feeling like you’re picking on me either! :mrgreen:
Ponies~! Hmm, I think that’s normal. I do something slightly different, though. Even before I pick up my needles, I sketch out a design for a garment. After that sketch, another idea pops up and another. Lol, then I become overly excited about each garment that I don’t know which to start on.
I’ve got three garment ideas and I’m having issues deciding on which to knit first. The first one is a panda hoodie with ears and a pouch, the second one is a hooded cloak for a steampunk convention in September, and the last one is a nerdy Pokemon inspired sweater dress.
I guess I could always start on that sweater dress since I have eight skeins of purple yarn.
