I knitted hats for every member of DH’s family as Christmas presents. I knitted them in 100% Malabrigo yarn and my concern is that they will machine wash and dry them resulting in a felted bowl. So I need to write/make tags to pin to the hat that will tell them how to care for it. I am in need of suggestions, preferably ones that will not cost any money. Thanks!
If you have cardstock (heavier paper) you can print on you can print up tags that say something like -
“Hand wash ONLY. Washing in the washer and dryer will shrink and felt this hat”
Then you can punch a hole and use a holiday sticker or stamp to make it cute and Christmassy. OR if you’re handy with the computer and have software you could create a tag with a border and text and print it…
ETA: I just made these labels up in about 5 minutes. If you have the software and know how to use it you could make up your own.
Jan,
You are a life saver :woot: I hope you don’t mind but I printed them off of card stock to use with my hats. It saved me a lot of time. Your the BEST!!!
Oh! You’re welcome! I figured those wouldn’t quite be what you wanted, but I wanted to show you how they could be done. If you can use them though I’m glad I did it!
Nice to see you out in the main forum…see what happens when you visit!?
Another idea would be to print simple care instructions onto iron on transfer paper and iron that onto either fabric strips or bias tape, then hand stitch that to the garments.
