Knitpicks swish superwash worsted?

Hi all,

I want to knit the ‘tyrolean’ socks in the fall interweave and I am looking for a wool that is washable.

do any of you have experience with this yarn? Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Cara

Is the yarn for it a worsted weight or something lighter? You might take a look at some of knitpicks machine washable sock yarns or the Swish DK.

It looks like the yarn recommended is worsted so Swish would be okay. I’ve heard that it tends to pill, but have no experience with it.

uh oh! I don’t want it to pill.

I’m willing to spend money on something very yummy so long as it is washable.

any suggestions then?

Thanks!

Someone at my LYS was knitting socks with Lorna’s Laces worsted and it was super soft and yummy! I want to make a sweater with it!

Again I have no experience with it though.

about the pilling, would handwashing make a difference? would the regular (non superwash) swish pill?

Well, from my experience with the KP superwash is that it does felt just a tiny bit, but I’ve used other types of wool blends and they do the same thing. As of yet I’ve to see if my socks pill up at all. So far they have not.

I could have sworn Kelly Pitkin addressed this issue on one of the Podcasts Knitpicks has. She said they did pill a little at first, but after that, they never pilled again. At least, I think that’s what she said.
