Knit Pillow Idea

I thought I’d make a pillow, a quick 12" project. Only I’m stumped on what to make. Can anyone help me past this knitter’s block? Maybe an easy lace or something…I’m looking more for a pattern, not a 2-color effect.

I have a book of patterns for pillows - some have cables, others are ribbed, some are shaped sort of like a big envelope and button the flap on the front.

You can get some ideas from looking at the cover of this, too:

You could perhaps do 4 different ones and join them together as a sampler.
