Knit Picks Lint Shaver and removing fuzz

A large percentage of the projects that I have done, and the ones I have planned are felted. I’ve been trying to come up with a way to get rid of that aura of fuzz around my FOs. When I saw the new Lint Shaver at Knit Picks, I thought that it would be perfect if I could use that. I am not at all impressed with it. I realize that lint and fuzz are two very different technical terms, so I might not be using it for the intended purpose. I’m going to return it. Will the Sweater Stone do what I am needing? I suppose I can just stick with disposable razors, but shaving my knitting seems to dull them pretty fast.

I think both of those are really designed to get rid of pills rather than extra fuzziness.

I was afraid you were going to say that. Now I just have to decide what to put my credit towards instead.

Amanda, I use one almost exactly like that on my felted items … and it works great. This will sound REALLY silly … but did you take the clear plastic “lid” off the shaver part of it? I thought mine had quit working, changed the batteries … and FINALLY realized that I didnt take the cover off. I have also used a regular disposable shaver to “clean up” those felted fuzzies!

I did take the lid off, and after 5 minutes with it I had shaved off an itty bittty little puff of fuzz. (about as much as if I had grabed hold and yanked a bit off) Maybe it is some other form of operator error.

For cleaning up my felted items I use my Wahl pet trimmer or any cheap electric razor. It really finishes the item off nicely. I don’t like all the fuzz.

In a pinch scissors and razors work okay. They are just slower.

genius! i have an old electric razor.

I use my husband’s electric hair clippers and they work great.
