Knit one Pearl one for 2 "
Hi, and welcome! :waving:
If you are creating ribbing, if your first row ends with a purl stitch, you will start the next row with a knit stitch and vice versa.
And as a little note of interest, if you did the opposite of what I wrote above, you would wind up with seed stitch.
Thanks!!
I haven’t done anything just waiting to hear if all the pearls should be together & the knits
or as you say the oppisite-
Thanks I’m back on it now…
I’m knitting a scarf for my little sister and she liked the look of Seed Stitch. I read the instructions in my book and just had at it. Didn’t work at all, a bit of a train wreck really. So I got on this website (it’s got me out of a few jams in the past) and found a tutorial for Seed Stitch. I was able to pinpoint my problem (I was transferring the yarn under the work rather than under the needle) and figured that I could easily replicate it on my own. When I finally sat myself down to do it I couldn’t figure out why it didn’t look right. I decided to just let it play out for a few rows to see what was happening. Lo and behold I have a 1x1 rib. What in the world do you do to differentiate between the two? Their instructions are identical! Please help!

They’re both k1p1 basically, but with ribbing you knit the knits and purl the purls as they face you. In seed stitch you knit the purls and purl the knits as they face you.
For ribbing, if you end with a knit, start with a purl and vice versa.
For seed stitch, if you end with a knit, start with a knit and vice versa.
Oh, wait… I see. Hm… alright. Thanks a bunch.
