Hi, I am wanting to make a scarf (just a small one for a teddy bear). Anyway, I would like to monogram it but I am experiencing a little confusion… I found a really helpful link on how to make a chart, but the part I am confused about is when to knit and when to purl. I would like to have it look like this. So when I do the lettering, it stands out
Do you have a pattern?
From the picture you have attached, as the piece is knitted in stocking stitch I would say that on the right side (the knit side) you purl the stitches you want to raise out and on the wrong side (the purl side) you knit those same stiches. If this is wrong I’m sure somebody will be able to tell you. Good luck

Hi Melanie,
The lettering I have done is knitted on the right side and the wrong side is knitted where the lettering is. Here is a link I have used before. Is goes to a way back archive but can be found through allcrafts.net. You should be able to get some idea for you’re own lettering.

Good luck!
