Keeping the swatch.

My mother crocheted an afghan for each of her children’s graduation. She also made blankets for her sons & daughters -in-laws. She continued the tradition for each grandchild.

We have had three dogs. One of them chewed a hole in my wife’s blanket. That was about the time I joined Knitting Help. I was able to match the white yarn and repair the hole in pattern.

After that I asked my mom to include a small bit of each color yarn with the grand children’s afghans for repairs.

A saved swatch could save or restore a prized gift :gift:.

This was just a thought about leftover swatches and small balls of fiber not cluttering our craft spaces. :slightly_smiling_face:

Good idea!

The swatch is a very good idea. I usually clip a ball band and a small twist of the yarn to the pattern but perhaps I should make that a more usable amount of yarn.
