My mother crocheted an afghan for each of her children’s graduation. She also made blankets for her sons & daughters -in-laws. She continued the tradition for each grandchild.
We have had three dogs. One of them chewed a hole in my wife’s blanket. That was about the time I joined Knitting Help. I was able to match the white yarn and repair the hole in pattern.
After that I asked my mom to include a small bit of each color yarn with the grand children’s afghans for repairs.
A saved swatch could save or restore a prized gift .
This was just a thought about leftover swatches and small balls of fiber not cluttering our craft spaces.
