K2tog dishcloth

This is my first post and I hope to get the answer(s) I need. I am a very beginner knitter attempting to make my first dishcloth. I have half of it done, but now I need to Knit 2 together and I can’t get my needle in there especially to bring the stitch around to get it off the needle. It’s too tight and I’m losing stitches as I try to “force” it through. What am I doing wrong?

It sounds as if you’re knitting is very tight. I will put the needle purlwise through the two stitches and pull on them to loosen them up some and then take it out and do my k2tog. HTH

I agree, sounds like your tension is just too tight. For now, you might try doing the k2tog by using a smaller needle. Once you’re made the stitch slip it onto the working needle and pull through enough yarn into the stitch to make it fit easily on that working needle. This is a little fiddley but it’ll work. Long term, it’d be best to try and loosen up on your tension.

Thank you so much…

It worked! Thank you!

When I knit the next row, do I consider the 2 stitches I knitted together as ONE stitch ir 2 separate stitches?

It’s just one stitch now

I presume that on the first half you were doing a yo to add a stitch, that’s an increase. On the second half, your k2tog is a decrease, you have 1 stitch less than before.
