I cant seem to find a video on how to do this stitch and find the directions a tad confusing. Any help is appreciated 20220319_222732

What is the name of your pattern?

One way to do this is to knit into the stitch below but leave the stitch on the left needle, then knit one into the stitch on left needle. There are 2 new sts on the right hand needle. Now peek over the needle to the other side. There’s an approximately vertical strand that you can pick up and knit. It’s marked by the blue circle here:

On the right side or front of the work it will look like this (red circle) when you’re finished:

Saint Cirian by Alice Starmore.
Thank you

Aha, here is an even easier way to work this increase:

Maybe this one? Alice Starmore’s patterns are so intricate and stunning. The knots and lattices are gorgeous.

Hello,
I am thrilled to find this discussion thread. I am also using an Alice Starmore pattern (Sigil from Aran Knitting). The video has been very helpful. As I was researching my question, I noticed some refer to K1B as knit 1 below. How can determine when to knit 1 below and k1 in back when I see k1b?
Thanks
Elle

Welcome to KH. Stitch definitions should be explained in the pattern. Beyond that, I don’t know other than going by what’s intended. If the intent is to twist a stitch then it’s ktbl (knit through the back loop). If it’s an increase it seems to me it could be either. I wish ktbl were accepted as standard to differentiate it from knit one below. At the very least the pattern should explain what’s meant.
