I just learned how to knit 2 days ago but right now I don’t have a clue on what to do. I have 3 balls of ordinary grey yarn and a pair of size 8 needles. So far I only know the really basics…and I kinda looked through this website but didn’t find an easy enough scarf to knit…
Just started knitting...what to knit?
do you know both the knit AND purl stitches or just one of the stitches?
just the knit
well then i would just cast on a bunch of stitches and knit a scarf. That way you learn to “perfect” your knit stitch. Depending on the yarn i would probably cast on about 24 stitches and knit away until you run out of yarn (or until you just can’t take it anymore and have to learn a new stitch! )
If you want a fringe on the scarf make sure you leave enough yarn to make the fringe too.
You can do a garter stitch scarf–just all knit all the way! It’s a very cozy stitch for a scarf.
Thank you :cheering:
By the way, how do I finish it when it comes to the end?
Just a basic bind off. Here’s Amy’s video demonstrating it (the first one on the page). It’s not hard at all!
Happy knitting!
I just started off with a few rows but I guess I did something wrong? It doesn’t look like the ones in the pictures
The pictures show stockinette stitch, which is knit one row, purl one row. You are knitting every row, which is called garter stitch. It’s looks perfect!
Thanks a lot
