Joining New Yarn with large needles

I knit scarves using size 35 needles. When I need to add more yarn to the project, I usually use the Russian join but the ends that I weave into the yarn strand still shows. If I cut it short, it just comes out on the other side of the strand. I can hide this when I use smaller needles or on items that have a wrong side and a right side but on scarves, both sides are visible and with the large needles, it’s hard to hide the ends.

Any tips would be appreciated.

it doesn’t work for everything, but is a good option. and then some sewing thread looped and tied tight on the very ends, if needed?
