Joanne’s Fabrics

I was very upset to hear that Joanne’s is closing down many of their stores , and one of them is my go to knitting store in Pennsylvania. This is a real shame . We first lost AC Moores , and now, Joanne’s .

It’s a pity. The Joann’s stores have been very civic minded and a great supporter of the Loose Ends project.
So many craft stores and especially local yarn stores struggle to stay in business.

Honestly, I have no idea where to buy yarn now. I’ve never been impressed with Michael’s yarn. I have ordered from Amazon, and Hershner’s. What’s your suggestion? And, thank you so much for always helping me with my knitting projects

Always happy to help or at least try to.
Webs and Jimmy Beans are good online sources with large inventories. So is Wool & Co.

Thank you ! I never heard of these companies . Do you think Hershners is ok? They have a good variety of yarn with good prices.

Give them a try. They’ve been around for quite awhile. Over 100 years.

Thanks so much Joannes has their own brand of yarn called Big Twist Baby Bear . It’s a chenille yarn that I love for baby blankets . So, I’ll need to find something comparable to that . It’s a #5 weight .

I put your yarn into yarnsub, you might find an alternative there

Thank you so much ! It’s the bulky wt #5. I went to Joanne’s in my area yesterday , and found that yarn . It’s sad to see the store going out of business. I’m wondering where to buy buttons for my knitted sweaters . Any suggestions? Joanne’s had the best buttons!

I’m afraid I can’t help with the buttons, but hope you can find somewhere with a good alternative! And you’re welcome

Knitpicks.com has nice quality yarn at affordable prices. Not quite the variety like Yarn.com but it’s another option to check out.

Thank you! Do you know if we will still be able to order from Joannes on line ?

I believe you can still order from Joann’s, but stock is probably severely limited. Once it was made public about them closing, things were going fast.

I read somewhere that the last day to order online was Feb. 28. Don’t know if it’s true, but I’m pretty sure they are completely shutting down.

Here is another vote for Knit Picks. I buy all my yarn from Knit Picks. I find the quality of the yarn much better than yarn bought at Walmart or Joann’s for around the same price. Just be aware that you need to buy at least $75.00 worth of items to get free shipping.
