Yeah, yeah…hand tinting is pretty cool and I imagine it takes a lot more finesse. We have a few hand tinted pics from when we were kids, but to my eye they don’t look natural. Either he didn’t know what he was doing or that is the style. I only know how to do it in software though.
That’s a great story, Ingrid! :rofling: How cute!!!
I said they were magical–they never really looked natural! :rofling: Rosy cheeks on a black and white face never looked natural, but it was fun. Tinted people on black and white backgrounds–that kind of thing.
My mom has some baby pics of my brother and me that are like that–they’re kind of creepy!
Some of those can look really freaky. The one I remembe of us is all tinted, but the colors are way too vivid.
Here’s one with just the eyes blue. In this case I think she’s prettier with her fur showing though.
Oh, I love that photo! That’s not creepy at all!
Jan…that is just SO cool! Is there a short way to tell me how that computer-tinting happens?
If you wanna do it in reverse and take a color picture and remove color in an area, you can use the paintbrush tool in Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop and set it to “color.” Paint the area you want to make gray.
I love to do that waaaayyyy too much!
That IS cool, Cate. What I usually do to convert to b&w is to go to HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) and just lower the saturation of the color. You way is neat to do it selectively though!
Kelly…what software do you have? I was going to explain it, but actually here is a website where I learned it.
Colorizing Photos
If you have any questions just ask! And thank you!
Oh…I dont have ANY software.!
Great photos, Jan! We have the same eyes (light with a dark ring around them) :cheering:
And
Marshmallow
makes me melt everytime I see her!
Okay, you asked for it… a few more of me and one of my mom. Rather than post them everywhere I thought here would be best with a link elsewhere since there are so many. This trip down memory lane with you all has been so much fun! I’ve added comments in the section for each shot.
Jan, I love your pictures!! What a pretty girl you were/are. That’s one heck of a corsage you are wearing in that one pic!!
Lovely photos, Jan! You’re beautiful! And that shot of your mom–she looks like a movie star! (Love those 40s photos!)
Beautiful, Jan! I too love the “old” pictures (not that you are old) but I look at my pictures mostly on a computer monitor now and even the glossy prints just aren’t the same. My grandma has taken the time to organize all of her photos back from when my mom was a baby…in albums all labled…it really is a great walk down memory lane. I’ll have to get some pictures of those pictures when I’m home in August.
Great pics, Jan! You’re beautiful!
And Chris Cross is HOT!! Lucky girl!!
Pretty young lady there!
I remember those poofy dresses and Mary Jane shoes, too. Remember the ‘twirl?’
Your mom is LOVELY! And, what is it about photos from that era…she looks much older than 17… GREAT pics, Jan…
It’s probably the “Victory Red” lippy she’s got on. Man, I wish I could get my eyebrows to do that… mine are like flobberworms…
Flobberworms!!! :roflhard: :roflhard:
