I’ve been working on knitting the pumpkins from Knitty, and it got me thinking that they would make great Christmas gifts except that fall will be past. Does anybody know of any good Christmas decoration patterns? For some reason I’m thinking felted, but I guess it doesn’t have to be. Maybe a snowman or Christmas Tree or wreath?
Hi Michelle, here is a link to find a snowman pattern. You have to sign up to be a member, no big deal its free. The snowman is called Mr. Flurry, its under gifts. I made eight of these last year for xmas gifts, they are cute and fun. The only changes I made were I joined the snowman in the round with DPs and I also made a little bag with rice or beans and put it inside on the bottom before stuffing to weigh him down a little. Oh, and I used buttons for the eyes. Check it out, they come out adorable.
Michelle, I used woolease, white, and then I found some with sparklies in it too, woolease that is. I found it at Joanns. I was pretty with blues for the hat and scarf. I used a lot of odds and ends for the hats and scarves. wool would be nice, very nice. When I made them I did it over the summer so I don’t work over the summer and am crunched for $$. I made myself one around Christmas and did use the wool of the andes from knit picks, very nice.
:roflhard:Are you KIDDING me? OH MY GOODNESS!!! Did you SEE the needle size that this pattern called for? Size 0000 needles? What is that? The size of a strand of hair? The smallest needles I’ve used are US4 and THOSE were small to me right now.
No, I just DROOL over them. Takes me a century to knit something easy. I’d be dead before I finished even one of those beauties. LOL.
I agree about the sweater idea though. that would be cute!
So, I guess if I used a small (for me) needle size… that no body would want a soccer ball sized ornament? Because, that’s what I’d be left with if I knitted in my ‘needle comfort zone.’ :roflhard:
